Welcome to Midway Volunteer Fire Company
 

Welcome to the official website for the Midway Volunteer Fire Company. The members of the Midway Volunteer Fire Company have been providing fire protection and rescue services to the communities of Buckingham and Solebury in Bucks County, PA since 1931. Our fire company is made up of 100% volunteers. These volunteers are your neighbors who are dedicated to protecting the residents as well as the homes and businesses of Buckingham and Solebury and the surrounding communities.

The Midway Volunteer Fire Company has two fire stations. Our main station is located at 5770 Route 202 in Lahaska, PA next to Peddlers Village. Our substation is located at 3879 Route 413, between Long Lane and Cold Spring Creamery Road. Monthly business meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at our main station in Lahaska starting at 7:30 PM. Training drills are held on the second, third and fourth Tuesday’s of each month. Check our calendar of events for times and locations as well as training topics to be covered.

 

Jerry Taylor

It is with deep regret that the members of the Midway Volunteer Fire Company announce the passing of Life Member Jerry Taylor. Jerry passed away on Friday August 27th. Family members will have a private memorial service followed by internment. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. 


 
Concord Road Dwelling Fire

Shorty before 6:00 PM on Tuesday evening, firefighters were dispatched to a dwelling fire on 3735 Concord Road in Buckingham. Battalion Chief 79 arrived on scene and reported a working fire. The initial dispatch included Engine 19-1, Ladder 79, Engine 79, Engine 15 and Engine 95. Ladder 5, Tanker 5, Tanker 24 and Tanker 66 were dispatched next. Central Bucks Ambulance was also on scene providing rehab for firefighters. Crews were on scene for more than five hours. The dwelling was destroyed and the cause of the fire is undetermined. Sunday Morning Vehicle Rescue

Firefighters from Midway were dispatched to a vehicle rescue on Sunday morning at about 10:30 AM. Upon arrival Chief 5 found an SUV on its side on Burnt House Hill Road between Watson Drive and June Meadow. The driver was quickly extricated and Central Bucks Ambulance transported the driver to the hospital. The extent of the driver's injuries are unknown and the cause of the accident is under investigation. Responding to the accident scene were Rescue 5, Engines 5 and 15-1. Fire Police from Midway remained at the scene for traffic control.


 
Route 413 Vehicle Fire

Midway was dispatched to a vehicle fire located on Route 413 near the intersection of Route 413 and Cold Spring Creamery Road, just before Noon on Saturday August 21st. Engines 15-1 and 5 responded  and Utility 15 also responded with additional manpower. The vehicle which was a four door sedan was completely gutted by the fire. There were no injuries to either the driver of the vehicle or to any firefighters. The cause of the fire is unknown.


 
Fire Alarm turns into Dwelling Fire

On Monday August 16th, Midway responded to a fire alarm at 5781 Stony Hill Road in Buckingham at about Noon. Deputy Chief Steve Turbyfill was the first officer to arrive on scene and reported a working fire and immediately requested additional apparatus and firefighters.
 
The difficult fire coupled with high heat and humidity required firefighters from twelve fire companies to extinguish.  Assisting Midway was the Doylestown Fire Company, Dublin Fire Company, Hartsville Fire Company, Lambertville Fire Department, Lingohocken Fire Company, New Hope Eagle Fire Company, Newtown Fire Association, Northampton Township Fire Department Ottsville Fire Company, Point Pleasant Fire Company, Plumsteadville Fire Company, Upper Makefield Fire Company and the Warwick Fire Company.
 
Members from Central Bucks Ambulance were on scene providing rehab to the. One firefighter from Midway was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
 
There was extensive fire damage to the attic and the roof along with water and smoke damage to much of the dwelling. The cause of the fire was still under investigation. Congratulations to Firefighter Bryant Aragona who completed his Firefighter 1 Training and passes both his written and practical skills tests at the Bucks County Public Safety Training Center. Bryant seen here on the right along with Chief Steve Cronin on left, attended the Graduation Ceremony this past week.


 
Midway Responds to House Fire Struck by Lightning

Firefighters responded to a reported house fire on Sunday August 1st at approximately 3 PM at 511 Clermont Court in Solebury. Battalion Chief 5 was the first to arrive on scene and reported smoke showing and that the incident was a working fire. The homeowner reported that the house had been struck by lightning. Crews found and extinguished fire located behind a fireplace and in the wall. Damage was contained to two rooms and a portion of the attic.

Both the New Hope Eagle Fire Company and the Point Pleasant Fire Company assisted Midway. While the cause of the fire was under investigation it was believed to have been started by a lightning strike.


 
   
   
2010 Carnival

Thank you to everyone that came out and supported our annual carnival over the past two weeks. Despite the intense heat and humidity along with our response to a fire in Peddlers Village during one of the evenings, the carnival was a success.

Fire Company Responds to Church Fire

At about 10:55 PM on Sunday 7/18, Midway was dispatched with the Point Pleasant Fire Company to a fire at the Carversville Christian Church at 3736 Aquetong Road in Solebury, PA. Engines 41, 41-2 , 5, 15, 15-1 and 24 responded along with Ladder 5 and Tankers 5, 23, 35, 41, 46  and 49.

Crews contained the blaze to the steeple and parts of the sanctuary. The last units were on scene until well after 4:00 AM. There were no injuries and the cause was under investigation.

New Tanker Update #2

Construction of our new tanker is progressing. The pictures shown below were taken during the first week of July. The committee will be visiting the manufacturer in late July to inspect the truck before it is painted.
