Fund Drive

WE NEED YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

Our annual Fund Drive is one of the most important fund raising efforts undertaken by the Midway Volunteer Fire Company. Because members of the Company manage the fund drive, the expenses incurred consist mainly of printing the newsletters and envelopes, as well as the postage for the direct mail campaign. For example approximately $24.00 of a $25.00 donation goes directly into the General Fund of the Midway Volunteer Fire Company.

The Fund drive begins with an initial direct mail donation request, which is mailed out, to homes within our response area in late May. Along with the donation request, a newsletter with fire prevention tips, and fire company news is sent to each home and business. Then a follow-up reminder is sent in September to those who have not yet contributed.

Community members or businesses who wish to make a donation to the Midway Volunteer Fire Company may simply fill out the donation form and enclose a check for your tax deductible donation, and mail it to:

United Way Contributions

Other ways to donate to our fund drive are through United Way or through employer sponsored matching gift programs. If your employer participates in a payroll deduction United Way program, then you may be able to designate the Midway Volunteer Fire Company as the recipient of your donations. Check with your employer, companies like Johnson and Johnson and Merck already participate in such a program.

Employer Matched Donations

Many larger companies also have programs in place that will match an employee’s donation to a charity of their choice. For instance if you donate $50.00 to the fire company, your employer would then send a check to the fire company for $100 including a matching amount of $50.00. Each year millions of dollars are left undistributed to charitable organizations because companies don’t know who to give money to. You can help by contacting your employer to see if they have a matching gift program, or if they don’t how you can help to start one.

In Kind Gifts and Services

Please consider an in kind gift as a way to support the Midway Volunteer Fire Company. Oftentimes, individuals or businesses are able to offer services or products that we can use or that would otherwise benefit the Fire Company. Items such as office supplies, furniture, vehicles, excess inventory and services can be contributed and possibly written off as a charitable contribution for tax purposes.

Each year we are in need of prizes to give away at our annual carnival. If you would like to donate prizes for the carnival send an e-mail to carnival@midwayvfc.com.

At our annual banquet each year, we give out service awards to our members, to show our appreciation for the years of sacrifice and service to the community by both the members and their families. Donations of gift certificates to local restaurants would be an excellent way to say thank you.
